Combitech receives SJ's sustainability award

26 April 2019

Combitech is one of the winners of SJ's sustainability award for environmentally friendly travelers. At a ceremony at SJ's Annual General Meeting in Stockholm 25 April 2019, Combitechs CEO Hans Torin received the award. The motivation is as follows: “Combitech has decided to become the most sustainable IT consulting company in Sweden. In a short time, they have succeeded in changing their travel pattern”.

For the fifth consecutive year, SJ awards this price to companies or organizations that work towards sustainable business traveling.

The award is an acknowledgment that we are on the right path in our active sustainability work. We have decided to become the most sustainable company in our industry and eventually become climate neutral. In order to succeed, all employees must think about the sustainability perspective in everything we do. I´m confident that together, we can achieve this goal.

Hans Torin, CEO of Combitech.

The ambition is to cut our carbon dioxide emissions in half by 2022 and during 2018 we cut down with 9 % per employee and our costs generated from traveling went down with 6%.

There is great potential in traveling with lower emission impact, at least for our internal meetings, for example by travelling by train which gives you the opportunity to work and at the same time arrive well rested. Book one of our electrified office cars that are available in several locations. Our digital tools are of course also an effective and environmentally sound choice.

Patrik Johansson, Environmental Manager.

We monitor our travel patterns at employee level and every month, each department receives an individual status report.

Connected dustbins in Uppsala

At first, Uppsala Municipality was sceptical about purchasing smart dustbins. There was nothing wrong with the idea itself. The dustbins are able to compact 5-7 times more waste and then the dustbins themselves communicate, via an app, when they must be filled or emptied.
