Telenor Cyberdefence acquire Combitech’s operations in Norway

5 July 2024

To meet growing customer demands in the defence area and industrial segment, Combitech is concentrating its operations to Sweden and Finland. As a consequence of the new strategic direction, Combitech’s Norwegian operations, Combitech AS, are acquired by Telenor Cyberdefence.

Combitech AS has extensive experience of running complex cyber security programs and offers advisory services to meet regulatory requirements for the Norwegian market. The company became part of Combitech in 2017 under the name Watchcom Security Group. The value that has been formed in Combitech AS has been assessed to have greater potential to be fully realised in a company with a different strategic focus.

At the same time, Combitech continues to develop its services in the field of cyber security in both Sweden and Finland to meet customer needs in an increasingly complex security situation. Over 1000 employees currently work throughout the chain - from secure development via security services to regulatory compliance to increase society's resilience, and we see a great recruitment need going forward.

- With the strong value that has been created in the Norwegian operations, we see that their services will have amplified opportunities to grow with another owner. Parallelly, Combitech can concentrate its focus on Sweden and Finland, comments Sebastian Carlsson, Deputy CEO of Combitech and Head of the Cyber Security Division.

Combitech AS will become part of Telenor's newly formed company Telenor Cyberdefence and will therefore also change its name during the third quarter.

- We are convinced that this will be beneficial for both customers and employees, and I am happy to follow their journey forward, Carlsson continues.

The transaction affects around 20 employees located in Oslo. The business was transferred to Telenor Cyberdefence on July 4th.

At the same time, 74 per cent of decision-makers want to learn more about total defence. The report highlights a knowledge gap, which combined with the slow development of total defence capability raises concerns about Sweden's preparedness.
